The media business is taking a pounding as advertisers hold back spending on marketing. The effect for the Broadcast Networks, will be less spending on scripted shows and more directed at the cheap reality type show. But for those in the magazine business the sudden advertising black hole, is much more dire and is sending many of them into a death spiral.
But since we all know the future of this planet must be a green one, the magazines and media covering it, must be booming, right? Sadley the truth is green media is bleeding red. Fresh new comers such as Plenty Magazine, Organic Style Magazine and Hybrids like Conde Nast’s Domino Magazine are feeling the effects of high over head and a thin advertising base. Looks like David Letterman is so mad at GM and the other big automakers, he has decided to support Tesla. He goes on and on about how he loves the first Tesla car and even rolls out the new prototype sedan, The Model S. Tesla’s Chairman, Elon Musk gives credit to the documentary Who Killed The Electric Car, for bringing a spotlight to the demand for electric cars. Musk said ” When was the last time anyone cared about the death of a GM vehicle?” He was talking about GM killing off the EV1 electric car, to make way for the Hummer Beast Line of vehicles. Which have now been killed off as well.
Elon, couldn’t have paid David enough for this type of endorsement. I am sure being on shows like Late Night and The Tonight Show, puts Tesla on the map in Washington D.C. Giving them a chance at some Government funds to make the Model S into a reality. From the news hitting the web over the last few weeks, the Model S is smoke and mirrors for now. They have a long way to go and their really is no way to price the car yet. The flat screen display on the dashboard would cost $7 on its own.
Monkies love composting! Really, since we are guzzling green juice all day long, we end up with a ton of semi dry veggie fiber. Each day we have over 4 pounds of waste from our Carrots, Celery, Cucumbers, Apples and Beets. So, we could trash it all and let it trap gas in a land fill, or we could give it to the worms and turn it into super compost. We decided to get some worms. We will make a video about that soon. But until we do, here is a very funny video by the Enviromentals (Hal Brindley and Leigh Ramsdell) show you how they built their worm bin. Continue Reading / See Additional Photos

Since I was a kid, I have always wanted to own my very own Airship. I just thought it would be a cool thing to live on, slowly gliding over the world, exploring new places. Much better than the bumpy stomach turning ride you get on a sail boat. So, when I was out looking for photos today and came across Quest TV’s Photo of a new modern designed Airship called the Eureka, I had to embed the show. Maybe some day Airships will replace all those diesel burning freight trucks coming out of Long Beach. They could even replace the cargo ships entirely. Which would be a really good thing for all of us. They are major source of pollution and they help destroy the oceans by transporting evasive species across the oceans.
Here is some details about the Eureka
The Eureka is made by Airship Ventures and is not a blimp or true Zepplin. It’s something new, a hybrid. Called a Zeppelin NT, the airship hull is made of a state of the art multi layer laminated material, which is also used for NASA space suits. The gas used to lift the ship is non-flammable helium. The ship is so tough, it can be hit by lightning with little to no effect on how it flies.

As lead Monkie here at G Living, I have decided it’s time to take the company in a new direction. It’s time to take a fresh new look at what we have created and where we’re going. We started G Living way back in 2004 with the idea of being the media company for the emerging modern green lifestyle. We wanted to cover it all. The news, recipes, raw food movement, fashion, vehicles, celebrities and a zillion other things. Providing a cool platform for the not so cool idea (back then) of living green. In fact, back in 2004, the average person I would share the idea of green living with, would not only not get what I was talking about, but they saw little value in it. Things have really changed, haven’t they.
We started building version one of a site we called GreenZones, which eventually evolved into the G Living site you see now. There was little to no coverage happening in the mainstream publications or within the blog space. Zoom forward 4 years and not only is everyone covering something about living green, but most of them are all covering exactly the same things. Everything is just a poor carbon copy of each other. No first hand experiences, or knowledge, just a bunch of people surfing the web and reposting what they found. Continue Reading / See Additional Photos
